Agency Development Officer

Purpose

 

The Agency Development Officer (“Officer”) full time position presents a unique opportunity to work within the Development Department at the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati (“JFC”) and also serve a dual role as a development professional for one or more partner agencies. This individual will be responsible for developing strategic development plans and stewardship plans for donors related to JVS Career Services (“JVSCS”) and project management for impending agency capital campaign.  The Officer will also develop and maintain relationships with key donors, engage and show appreciation for donors and show appreciation toward donors for JFC, JVSCS and an additional agency. This Officer will report to the Director of Agency Fundraising at JFC and work closely with Agency CEOs and development staff.

 

This Officer position requires an individual with the ability to support more than one agency and their fundraising needs. Workload includes annual and supplemental project assistance, coaching and donor connections. As a member of the JFC team, this individual will help the key partner agencies collaborate and coordinate with JFC to foster greater donor connections and stewardship. Developing and executing strategies for donor engagement, solicitation and stewardship for JVSCS and key agencies are crucial to this position.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

JVSCS Specific Roles/Responsibilities (50%)

·     Work with JVSCS management and board to create a culture of giving with an expectation that 100% of the board will donate to both the JVSCS and JFC annual campaigns

·     Implement two JVSCS direct appeal campaigns per year

·     Solicit all JVSCS clients that successfully secured employment within six months of starting their new job

·     Solicit all JVSCS business clients that successfully hired a JVSCS referred candidate within six months of the hire

·     Solicit local businesses to sponsor JVSCS seminars/events

·     Manage and implement Eighty-year anniversary fundraising event

·     Team lead for JVSCS Create Your Jewish Legacy (“CYJL”) program to meet program requirements for Letters of Intent and Confirmations of Commitment

Project Management for Agency Capital Campaign (50%)

·     Provide leadership and staffing for planning, training, solicitation and billing related to campaign

·     Provide strategic planning assistance to maximize the campaign’s success

·     Assist with identification and recruitment of campaign chairs and leadership

·     Partner with agency and provide support to volunteer chairs of the campaign

·     Hold regular campaign meetings

·     Provide progress reports and ensure meeting deadlines

·     Coordinate work with the JFC Development team to assist with the processes necessary for a successful campaign, including administrative work and pledge processing

Additional Officer Roles/Responsibilities

·     Execute strategies that lead to the achievement of developmental revenue goals

·     Lead the management of annual giving campaigns

·     Manage and oversee donor stewardship

·     Cultivate relationships with existing donors and identify and grow prospective donor relationships

·     Develop yearly development strategy for JVSCS and key partner agencies

·     Meet with major donors and donor prospects on a regular basis and coordinate with JFC, JVSCS and additional key agency boards and CEO/development staff

·     Lead/Assist with execution of major fundraisers

·     Work with JFC and lead professional staff at key agencies to develop and craft supplemental giving projects

·     Enlist participation of key donors

·     Attend agency and community events as a representative of key agencies and JFC

·     Coordinate with marketing staff at JFC and key agencies

Credentials and Experience

·     Bachelor’s degree required

·     Master’s degree a plus

·     5-7 years or more of experience in a development role or complementary community role

·     Experience in project management: Create schedule and project timeline, track deliverables, support and direct team, lead quality assurance, monitor and report on project process

·     Professional confidence to navigate and be comfortable with multiple responsibilities for one or more partner agencies

·     Strong communication, organization and time management skills focused on planning, implementation and collaboration, including effective communication with multiple project stakeholders and collaborators

·     Emphasis on experience working in donor relations, donor stewardship, event planning and sponsorship sales

·     A driven self-starter with ability to work without direction or prompting

·     Ability to solicit and incorporate input from others and consistently meet frequent deadlines

·     Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

·     Excellent organization, problem-solving and decision making skills

·     Detail oriented with an ability to work on several projects simultaneously

·     Comfortable working with, managing and encouraging and presenting to trustees, volunteers, individuals and staff

·     Excellent written, verbal, telephone and presentation skills

·     Proven ability to raise significant funds from diverse constituencies

·     Unique position requires ability to successfully represent both JFC, JVSCS and additional partner agencies in donor asks and be able to coordinate with both agencies to avoid donor fatigue

·     Ability to work with donor management system databases

·     Relationships within the Cincinnati Jewish community as a professional or lay leader a plus
