The Director of Development, Regional leads Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio’s Greater Miami Valley region in fundraising and engagement strategies and manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for prospects in annual fund, mid-level, major, planned and corporate gifts. Establishes strategies and executes programs, creates materials and executes events to secure and expand financial support for Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Development, Regional leads PPSWO’s Greater Miami Valley region in fundraising and engagement strategies and manages the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for prospects in annual fund, mid-level, major, planned and corporate gifts. Establishes strategies and executes programs, creates materials and executes events to secure and expand financial support for PPSWO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and leads strategy that includes prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all annual, major, giving circle, affinity group, planned giving and corporate donors and prospects with in the region.
  • Manages the above portfolios working in conjunction with the Vice President of Development using Moves Management.
  • Continually assesses new prospects to look for engagement opportunities.
  • Establishes and meets mutually agreed upon financial goals for moving donors through development cycle, including visits, dollars solicited and dollars raised.
  • Oversees assessment of annual, major gifts, giving circles, affinity groups and corporate fundraising metrics. Develops, manages and tracks budgets for all giving programs.
  • Creates an advisory committee of volunteers within the region for development purposes. Responsible for scheduling, preparation and follow up.
  • Coordinate and staffs regional cultivation and stewardship events to support development activities and funding priorities.
  • Oversees meaningful donor recognition programs for major gifts, affinity groups, giving circle and corporate members.
  • Reviews gift entry process, reports and timely acknowledgement letters directed with Development Associate.
  • Creates and prepares donor packets of information, proposals, budgets, gift agreements and contact reports for all assigned donors.
  • Oversees special stewardship projects including: follow up letters after VIP events, holiday card mailings, “swag” mailings, invitations to special events, personal calls to donors, etc.
  • Interfaces and works with the Operations and Finance departments to ensure adherence to gift acceptance, gift counting, and gift processing policies and procedures, and to fulfill information requests and maintain reporting accuracy.
  • Serves as liaison to Community Shares campaign of Greater Cincinnati and Dayton.
  • Meets financial goals as established in coordination with the VP of Development.
  • Prepares Board of Trustees reports for meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and CFRE accreditation preferred.
  • At least three (5) years of professional fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to confidently ask for major gifts.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, respond to changing priorities as they arise.
  • Experience with fundraising tools; including direct mail, proposal writing, major gifts, and planned giving.
  • Managerial experience with interns and volunteers.
  • Experience with financial record-keeping software as well as common word processing, database management, spreadsheets and online communication technology.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Must be a discreet individual with well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of staff, as well as external customers and vendors.
  • Must be able to exercise sound and independent judgment with high ethical standards.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality with donor information.
  • Effective research methods and tools.

Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000
