Job Description

The Director of Development for Planned Giving is responsible for utilizing best practices for cultivation and solicitation strategies of planned giving donors. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the other programs in order to achieve fundraising objectives and goals as defined by University Advancement and the colleges/units supported by University Advancement.

Essential Functions:
1. Maintain the work load of planned giving based on priorities and goals that coincide with strategic plans. Retain updated information on multiple gift vehicles available. 40%
2. Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison to the major giving program in regards to strategizing and executing planned gifts. Work collaboratively with the organizational giving, major giving, annual giving and special initiative staff as needed to verify, cultivate and solicit constituents for planned gifts for the university and work with appropriate campus offices to plan implement and oversee stewardship programs. 30%
3. Coordinate and implement ongoing planned gift activities on behalf of the University in order to increase the number and size of gifts. 25%
4. Identify, engage, and solicit donors for the purpose of securing gifts for Ohio University and The Ohio University Foundation. Raise roughly $1,000,000 and conduct 50 visits annually. 15%
Successful candidate must be self-motivated with a willingness and ability to travel.
