The Director of Development will advance the mission of Miami University by planning, organizing, and implementing strategies to increase the level of personal involvement and financial commitment of alumni and friends. Particular emphasis will be given to strategies seeking philanthropic and volunteer support for the College of Education, Health & Society.

Duties/Physical Demands:

  • Implement and direct a comprehensive development programs for the College of Education, Health & Society in response to its goals and initiatives. Manage and develop strategies for all prospects of the College of Education, Health & Society.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit alumni and friends of the College of Education, Health & Society for gifts of $50,000 or more to Miami University.
  • Prepare and present departmental and divisional gift proposals to alumni and friends with the input and assistance of faculty, staff administrators, and deans. Proposals may involve tax planning, gifts of real estate, personal property, securities, and gifts in wills, trusts, annuities, and insurance.
  • Perform other duties related to the mission of the Office of Development under the guidance of the Assistant Vice President of Development, Academic Programs and Projects, thereby serving as the principal departmental liaison for the College of Education, Health & Society in addressing their philanthropic and alumni relations objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience; outstanding oral and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and an ability and willingness to travel extensively both on a regional and national level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree; five or more years of fundraising experience in an educational environment.
