Job Description

Shelter House is a community of residents, staff and volunteers working together to provide basic human services for the men and women of the Greater Cincinnati area who are experiencing homelessness. The Director of Development is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing a comprehensive development, marketing, and communications program for Shelterhouse.

Essential Job Duties
Exercises independent judgement and discretion as to the following:

  • Identify, qualify, solicit, and close major gifts from high net-worth individuals as well as gifts from corporations and foundations.
  • Develop and manage all development campaigns including the Annual Fund.
  • Prepare and implement compelling grant proposals.
  • Develop and coordination of Annual Report.
  • Revise as needed and manage all marketing materials.
  • Update and maintain website.
  • Revise as needed all television, radio and billboard campaigns.
  • Coordinate fundraising events.
  • Manage donations utilizing Donor Perfect.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred.
  • CFRE certification preferred.
  • Min of 5 years development experience.
  • History of writing and receiving meaningful grant applications.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organized. Ability to multi-task. Self-motivated.
  • Ability to make independent judgement and exercise discretion with respect to matters of significance.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Excellent business writing and grammatical skills.
  • Experience in Donor Perfect or other development software.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and making presentations.
