Job Description

Organization: UpSpring’s mission is to empower children experiencing homelessness by providing opportunities for education and enrichment. We provide educational and enrichment programming, school supplies and transportation, and other specialized services to thousands of children experiencing homelessness each year in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Title: Development Director

Description: The Development Director will lead the organization’s development strategic plan and activities, as well as assisting with operations tasks.  This position reports to the Executive Director.

DUTIES:

Development:

• Execute the Development strategic plan for the organization
• Research grant opportunities and draft grant applications and reports
• Develop and lead individual donor engagement efforts, including one annual fund campaign
• Manage donor solicitation and stewardship efforts
• Plan and coordinate UpSpring fundraising events with community partners
• Serve as main contact and liaison between organization and foundations, donors, and other supporters
• Assist Executive Director with external communications, including email, mail, and other communications
• Serve as the lead organizer for signature fundraising event, UpSpring Break
• Perform general fundraising duties
Volunteer:
• Facilitate group volunteer efforts, engaging local businesses and other community partners
• Serve as main contact between organization and volunteers for UpSpring events
Administrative:
• Responsible for the management and evaluation of all Development staff
Operational:
• Provide operational support as assigned

Ideal Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum experience of 5 to 7 years in development; including grant research/writing, annual funds, donor engagement and cultivation, and/or fundraising event planning
• Experience with managing employees or volunteers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Superior organizational and planning skills, including the ability to multi-task and complete a varied set of tasks in a timely manner
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Demonstrates enthusiasm and professionalism
• Demonstrated experience working with donor databases (specifically Salesforce)
• Comfortable working in small team atmosphere
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, and other computer programs related to duties, as well as social media proficiency
