Job Description

Choices in Community Living (CICL) and the Resident Home Association of Dayton (RHA) are separate non-profit organizations with similar missions: To provide residential living and community participation for people with intellectual / developmental disabilities in the greater Miami Valley. These agencies have worked together to create a joint advancement program that will generate philanthropic, advocacy and volunteer services support for their shared and separate initiatives. They seek a Development Director who will work with the two agency Executive Directors and their Joint Development Committee to achieve the goals and objectives of their Advancement Plan.

Job Summary and Primary Responsibilities:
The Development Director is responsible for the development, management, implementation and evaluation of an Advancement Plan that is consistent with the mission statements and strategic plans of Choices in Community Living and Resident Home Association. He/she must be able to articulate the vision and to personally champion the efforts of these organizations and the people they serve to attract the public and private support necessary to achieve organizational goals.

The Development Director is hired by and serves at the pleasure of a Joint Development Committee comprised of representatives of both boards of trustees and community representatives. He/she will be an employee subject to the administrative supervision of Choices in Community Living, the fiscal agent for Partners in Community Living. The Development Director is subject to the program supervision of the Executive Directors of both agencies on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications:
Candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of five years of experience and knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, strong written, verbal and problem-solving skills, and experience in supervising staff and managing volunteer committees. Familiarity with the greater Dayton philanthropic community preferred.
