Job Summary:
This position is a two semester, part-time paid internship. The Communications Intern is an energetic, dedicated and detail-oriented person who can manage multiple tasks. The individual is a team-player with an entrepreneurial spirit, willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities. The Communications Intern will assist with communications tasks including, but not limited to, writing and editing, photo and video production and editing, web and social media content, graphic design, digital asset management, event coordination and other communications support tasks as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

Social Media:

  • Draft and organize social media content, videos and media coverage on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Contribute to social media quantitative and qualitative analytics reporting
  • Source content from staff, scholarship recipients and scholarship providers
  • General social media planning, research, reporting and coordination as assigned

Writing and Editing:

  • Organization and scholarship bios, photo captions, blog posts and newsletter articles
  • Interviewing and copy/editing
  • Press releases and media advisories

Photo, Video and Graphics:

  • Edit and format photos and videos for social media and web
  • Photography and videography
  • Infographics and social media lock ups
  • Digital asset management

Media Relations:

  • Help compile and update media contact lists
  • Assist with press release/media advisory writing, editing, and distribution

Miscellaneous Support:

  • Event planning and coordination
  • General administrative and communications support as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Recent graduate (within the past year) or an undergraduate/graduate student in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, digital media, graphic design, or communication arts – related field
  • Position requires high integrity of being honest, ethical, and confidential
  • Excellent communication, organizational & problem-solving skills, and ability to lead projects and think creatively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, social media platforms and design applications such as Canva

Physical Requirements / Work Environments:
This position requires flexibility and organizational skills, written and oral communication skills; the ability to adapt to various situations, critical and creative decision-making abilities. Must be able to sit, stand and lift. Occasional lifting of boxes.

Compensation:
Pay scale set at $15/ hour, anything above is to be determined by the President, based upon experience
