Job Description
The Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President of Development and Relations.
This position reports directly to the President of the institution and is the chief development and relations officer for the organization. The Vice President, in concert with the President/Rector, has responsibility for the formulation and implementation of the strategies to be used in the Athenaeum’s donor relations and development activities. As such, the Vice President has overall responsibility for the planning and direction of all capital, special, and ordinary fundraising programs as well as for management and growth of all donor relationships and constituencies.
The Vice President serves as a member of the President’s Executive Committee and works in close collaboration with the Board of Trustees Development Committee. The Vice President oversees the Development office, its operations and personnel, and is responsible for the evaluation and improvement of its competencies and professionalism.
This position requires a service-oriented leader who projects an engaging personal presence. The person must be able to generate support among colleagues, staff and the broader community through his/her knowledge, experience, creativity, vision and dedication to the Catholic Church and the mission of the Athenaeum/Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. The candidate must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church who is able to respect and promote the moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic faith.
The Vice President must possess a clear commitment to integrity, strong work ethic, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Also expected of the successful candidate is a minimum of a completed bachelor’s degree, demonstrated experience in the field of development and/or sales, experience in the management of personnel, and the ability to communicate well in both written and oral contexts.
