Job Description
The Senior Foundation Officer for Grant Development joins a highly engaged and motivated team that fundraises for Bethesda North Hospital projects, for Hospice of Cincinnati, and for Fernside: A Center for Grieving Children. This position requires a seasoned professional responsible for planning, organization, and implementation of all grant development activities including research, cultivation, application, stewardship, and compliance. The position also administers the grant-making activities for Bethesda Foundation grant programs.
Reporting to the President of the Foundation, the specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Securing funds for Bethesda and TriHealth entities by:
- Preparing and submitting 50-60 proposals or LOIs per year
- Cultivating new and established funder relationships
- Providing editing support to and coordination with others within TriHealth who develop grant applications
- Completing compliance and stewardship reports for funders
- Advising on project management, as needed, to ensure proper grant fund utilization
- Maintaining files for all funders, and logging information into The Raiser’s Edge
- Administering grant awards made by the Bethesda Foundation by:
- Collaborating with the Hatton Research Institute to promote research and clinical improvement projects at all Bethesda facilities
- Setting and communicating grant making schedules
- Maintaining grant administration software to submit and review grant applications
- Assisting and communicating with review committee members
- Assisting and communicating with applicants
- Maintaining files of applications and follow-up reports
- Communicating results of Bethesda grant making program
Preferred but not required:
- Experience working with health and human services non-profits
- Experience using The Raiser’s Edge
- Experience working with a grantee organization
- Experience teaching grant development
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred)
- At least 5 years’ experience in grant development with a track record of success in winning awards and identifying new funding sources
- Ability to develop clear budgets and to define goals, objectives, and evaluation strategies
- Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills which support working with leaders of multiple projects, programs, and agencies in TriHealth’s family including staff, medical personnel, board members, and TriHealth administrators
- Independent working capacity with a team-member mentality
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and professionalism, and a desire to excel in a not-for-profit environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
