The Project Manager role within the PNC Charitable Trust is responsible for the administration of grant distributions for the charitable trusts that fall under the oversight of The PNC Charitable Trust Grant Review Committee (CTC).  This includes trusts for which PNC is sole trustee, trusts for which PNC is sole trustee with outside counsel, and trusts for which PNC is co-trustee.  The Project Manager ensures compliance with applicable processes/procedures and ensures that PNC is fulfilling the donors’ intent of the trusts for which PNC has fiduciary and grant making responsibility.  The Project Manager works with qualified non-profits within their geographic area of responsibility to oversee the application process and provides ongoing monitoring to ensure funds are used for the purposes intended and in accordance with donors’ stated wishes.   Additionally, the Project Manager ensures adequate distributions are made to satisfy the trust’s Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and appropriate documentation of the grant making process occurs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • To be the primary lead on those charitable trusts assigned for grant administration.
  • To build relationships with non-profits in the communities served.
  • Work closely with the administrative officer and tax officer assigned to the trusts to ensure distributions are sufficient to satisfy the RMD of the assigned trusts and that sufficient funds are available for distribution.
  • Manage Trusts and Foundations where PNC is Co-trustee or where PNC has Full Discretion with Outside Advisory Committees, including managing the application process, arranging meetings with non-profit organizations and with co-trustees, and preparing meeting books, agenda, and meeting minutes as necessary.  Also, represent PNC as co-trustee upon request of the senior manager, PNC Charitable Trusts.  Travel as needed to participate in meetings.
  • Prepare for Quarterly CTC and Co-Trustee Meetings:
    • Review grant proposals to determine if proposals/projects fit the criteria of the trusts
    • Participate in site visits and meetings with non-profit organizations seeking funds or those who were recently awarded funds
    • Ensure that the RMD is met for each trust and that recommended grant awards are aligned with the donor’s intent
  • Provide technical assistance to non-profit organizations who are submitting a grant application into the web-based online portal (Cybergrants)
  • Process distribution checks to organizations once grant applications are approved
  • Review impact reports to ensure that the report: (1) provides a snap-shot of how the grant award monies were utilized; and (2) is received within 12 months of receiving the grant
  • Participate in regular staff and other internal meetings and perform other duties as assigned

Job Profile

  • Manages single project from original concept through final implementation and post-project assessment. Accountable for meeting project objectives within established timeframes. Typically project size is less than $500k.
  • Plans and schedules project timeliness and milestones using appropriate tools. Accountable to ensure project team is resourced as needed.
  • Partners with project team members to assign tasks, direct activities, and control project execution. Builds, develops, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Tracks and reports progress (management information system). Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

  • Computer skills and ability to learn and adapt quickly to new computer programs
  • Grant making and/or grant seeking experience preferred
