Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the grants program for ERS and low to mid-level individual annual giving (gifts under $1,000) and to provide oversight of Raiser’s Edge.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, public relations or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience required in non-profit fund development; 5 years’ experience preferred.
- Has a passion for serving older adults.
- Demonstrates a proven record of meeting goals for securing foundation funding and managing annual fund campaigns.
- Has the ability to analyze data to make critical decisions to target donor communications for the purpose of expanding the donor base and increasing donor retention and overall giving.
- Has exceptional written communication skills including the ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals, as well as demonstrated presentation skills.
- Raiser’s Edge fundraising software expertise strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the local philanthropic giving community to leverage and develop contacts and build relationships with individual and foundation representatives.
- Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task while managing critical deadlines with high attention to details.
- Is able to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Is proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook;
- Is able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language; has sight/hearing senses, or uses prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met;
- Is able and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, residents, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Possesses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and accept constructive feedback.
- Is able to relate to and deal tactfully with team members across multiple processes, have strong interpersonal skills and maintain good working relationships with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Must be fully up-to-date with required vaccinations.
As Manager of Foundation Relations and the Annual Fund you can expect to:
- Leads all aspects of the ERS grant seeking effort.
- Creates and maintains a detailed annual grant-seeking calendar, documenting and adhering to all deadlines for Letters of Inquiry, proposals, progress reports, and cultivation/stewardship touches.
- Collaborates with community and outreach ministry team members and Servant Leadership Team members to identify fundable opportunities that support current and future capital needs, programs and initiatives, as well as general operations, which are also suited to the interests of potential funders.
- Builds and strengthens foundation relations, growing the circle of prospective grant sources through research, networking and working closely with leadership team members, volunteers and friends of ERS.
- Crafts compelling narratives and compiles financial reports and statistical information pertinent for proposals and reports.
- Develops and executes team member and direct mail annual fund campaign for the purpose of cultivating, soliciting and stewarding new and low to mid- level donors while working closely with senior Fund Development team members to create a pipeline to move prospects into a major/planned giving portfolio.
- In collaboration with Fund Development and Marketing team members, develops strategic communications and appeals to educate donors and prospects on the need for, and impact of, the various communities, programs, ministries and services provided by ERS to inspire engagement and increase philanthropic support.
- Creates and manages the strategy to monitor and analyze annual donor activity; tracking behaviors and retention rates, segmenting constituents to focus messaging, and preparing reports to increase overall annual giving to ERS.
- In collaboration with the Fund Development Specialist, maintains best practices in processing and acknowledging donor gifts and pledges in a timely fashion.
- Involves volunteers, community and ministry outreach team members and the Servant leadership Team in personal contact with donors through solicitation and stewardship touches.
- Ensures the integrity of the donor database, including oversight of the constituent and gift entry processing and documentation, to meet donor expectations, reconcile with the Accounting Department and comply with audit regulations. Generates reports to support efforts of Fund Development team members.
Maintains affiliations and memberships in organizations which foster professional growth and/or furtherance of the ERS mission. - Attends workshops, in-services and classes, and participates on committees when needed.
- Works closely with and collaborates with a team of fund development professionals and community volunteers.
- Fills in for special needs with the department or serves on teams in the larger organization.
- Provides outstanding customer service to all customers in accordance with ERS’s expectations and values.
