Discover how strategic planned giving can elevate campaign outcomes and drive long-term impact. Join Tammy Wernke and David McGoron of the University of Cincinnati Foundation as they share practical insights on integrating planned giving into successful campaign strategies.

PRESENTER:

Tammy Wernke, MLS, serves as Assistant Vice President of Gift Planning at the University of Cincinnati Foundation, where she leads a team of fundraisers supporting the University of Cincinnati and UC Health. She works closely with major gift officers, professional advisors, and campus partners to structure planned, blended, and principal gifts that align donors’ philanthropic goals with long-term institutional priorities.

Tammy has dedicated her entire career to advancing the missions of the University of Cincinnati and UC Health through the UC Foundation, bringing more than 30 years of experience in higher education and healthcare philanthropy. Over the past decade in gift planning, she has partnered with donors to facilitate more than $100 million in philanthropic impact, while also helping to grow a comprehensive gift planning program and providing strategic leadership in donor engagement, marketing, and estate planning.

Tammy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Law and Legal Studies from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Arts and Sciences and her Master of Legal Studies from UC’s College of Law. She is a member of the National Charitable Gift Planners Association and remains actively engaged in the profession through collaboration and community involvement.

David McGoron, Esq., serves as Assistant Vice President for Gift Planning Administration at The University of Cincinnati Foundation, where he works closely with gift officers and the gift planning team to help turn philanthropic goals into meaningful, lasting gifts. He supports the creation of planned and life income gifts and oversees the careful administration of estate and trust donations to ensure each donor’s wishes are honored.

Before joining the UC Foundation, David spent ten years in Development and Alumni Relations at The Pennsylvania State University, most recently as Director of the Office of Gift Acceptance. During his time at Penn State, he helped steward a $170 million life income gift program and partnered with gift officers to thoughtfully structure planned and complex gifts.

David earned his Juris Doctor, with high distinction, from Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® designation through The American College of Financial Services.
