POSITION CONCEPT:
The Vice President-Education is a member of the senior leadership team and works closely with the President and other senior leaders to develop and implement the organization’s long-term strategies around growth, learning outcomes, and financial stability. Primary responsibilities include leading a team to implement and expand JA programs, directing all recruiting, training, and program management, monitoring programs for adherence to models and quality outcomes, and supervising the marketing to all education customers. The position is also the chief liaison to education/program committees.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop effective marketing plans targeted at the education and business community and create program strategies with a broad view of the business environment.
  • Manage program quantity and quality; assure volunteer recruiting, training, and retention through individual renewals and company liaisons. Oversee general records and correspondence with volunteers and prospects.
  • Identify and help cultivate funding relationships.
  • Interact effectively with a diverse board to assure proper support for program processes and education outcomes. Prepare, gain Board approval, and implement an effective program plan; manage material preparation for Board and Committee meetings.
  • Direct and manage the Education staff to include the effective recruiting, selection, training, development, and performance management that assures the acquisition and retention of a high quality staff.
  • Manage or deliver sales presentations to new districts, schools, and prospective teachers.
  • Participate in education community to assure JA’s position as a thought leader in the education community.
  • Manage development and implementation of volunteer/teacher recognition programs to assure volunteer retention.
  • Assure that all reports and data are in compliance with JA program implementation standards and meet all reporting deadlines.
  • Communicate with entire organization on program and education issues.
  • Develop and manage the budget for all programs and program related activities. Supervise procurement and delivery of all program materials.
  • Demonstrate and encourage commitment to quality and quality improvements that support and enhance the JA brand.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; ten or more years of direct program experience including staff management experience.
  • Presentation experience is necessary; computer literacy a must; should also be able to manage multiple priorities and high-level relationships.
  • Must be a goal driven, self-starter who enjoys providing exceptional customer-focused service and building mutually beneficial networks of supporters.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning experience.
  • Experience in budgeting and interacting with board members.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • Previous experience as chief program officer or management/leadership of a mid- to large not-for-profit organization.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent.
