1,001 Fund-Raising Tales:  Storytelling as Best Practice

We are all familiar with the Folktale of Scheherazade and 1,001 Arabian nights.  To survive the caprice of her husband, Shahryar, Scheherazade must keep telling compelling stories to keep him interested enough to forestall her demise. As a fundraiser you are in a similar situation. You must tell your organizations story to your donors and if you fail in your task it may be your organization that loses its life.

This seminar is ideal for fundraisers, executive directors, board members or key volunteers. Anyone who is charged with the task of detailing to a fickle public who your organization is and what is does to make a difference in our community. A consultant, speaker, writer, and coach for foundations, non-profits, public agencies, and progressive corporations, Terrence McNally helps clients express themselves, especially by telling more compelling stories.

  • Learn the elements of good story telling
  • Bring your mission to life
  • Engage & motivate your donors

Our Speaker: Terrence McNally

A graduate of Harvard, where he won its highest academic award, Terrence left teaching after a few years, and moved to entertainment to reach larger audiences. After twenty years as an actor, director, and screenwriter (Earth Girls Are Easy - starring Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey and Damon Wayans - now being developed as a Broadway musical), he realized he wasn't fulfilling his vision.

Terrence brings a wealth of experience in all sorts of media to help clients clarify and communicate their messages in order to maximize their impact.
