The market correction that ushered in the 21st Century and the continued market volatility is changing the planned giving landscape and certainly making it more challenging to secure planned gifts. While challenging, it is not impossible. Have you noticed one tool doesn't work for every job? Likewise, all planned gifts do not work for all donors in all economic conditions. Today it is imperative to provide donor-centered giving, matching the right type of gift to the needs of the donor.

Planned Giving on the Run is hosting its third session on November 11, 2008. We will be featuring a discussion of the various planned giving vehicles. A class of 15 participants is learning quickly about adding a planned giving program to their organizations' fund raising opportunities. For the January session, students will meet Board members who have signed up to be mentors. Together, we will hold an open discussion about a wide range of planned giving topics.

The goal of the planning session was to reach a shared vision for the council, and build consensus on manageable priorities for the council to pursue through 2010. A strategic analysis of council operations was completed, which focused on four key areas of activity: Membership, Programs, Administration, and LEAVE A LEGACY^®.
