GCPGC 2009 Survey Results

The 2009 GCPGC Survey was sent via Survey Monkey to 217 people including:
- Current GCPGC members
- GCPGC members whose memberships expired or lapsed as of 6-30-09
- GCPGC non-members who have attended a meeting since 6-30-09
There were 55 responses, (25% response rate). The survey was e-mailed three times.
- 50% of those surveyed considered themselves at the intermediate level of charitable gift/estate planning.
- 25% have worked in the planned giving field for more than 10 years.
- 81% are employed by a non-profit organization with 32% being in social services organizations and 28% being in development director positions.
- 24% of respondents belong to GCPGC.
- 20% belong to the Council of Advancement and Support of Education and 14% belong to their local estate planning council
- 35% of the respondents have JD degree and 23% hold CFRE/ACFRE credentials. 31% have Bar Membership.
- 60% of GCPGC members have been Council members more than 5 years.
- 9% come to the PGC meetings always, 25% frequently and 58% come occasionally.
- PGC meetings utilization: 72% occasionally use technique or information learned through the PGC; 63% occasionally invite a guest to the PGC meeting.
- 60% found PGC membership valuable for the education they get on planning tools and techniques and 33% found it valuable for networking opportunities.
- Desired benefits of membership summarized as:
- More balance between technical stuff and soft stuff
- Summarize the events to the members so that they can better see the benefits of membership
- The winners in the category of interest in issues/topics were:
- Integrating PG and Major gifts programs
- Marketing planned gifts
- Charitable bequests
- I interpret the answers to the question: Approximately what percentage of your time is spent on the following activities (#17) as no one doing only one thing - all of us do a little bit of everything.
