Development Seminar A Successful Collaborative Effort

"Raising o' the Green - Find Your Fundraising Pot of Gold", a one day conference made possible through a joint collaboration between the Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council (GCPGC) and the American Fundraising Professionals (AFP), was held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. The day was designed to be a one-stop-shop for all the educational information anyone might need to enhance their fundraising efforts.  The attendees and vendors were full of energy!

The day began with planned giving guru, Barb Culver, whose topic was "Transformational Giving: Inspired Philanthropy". The keynote session showed nearly 100 participants how to change old habits to offer meaningful donor experiences through transformational giving in the new world of philanthropy.

Cammy Dierking, Local 12 anchor and Cincinnati icon, was the luncheon keynote speaker.  She shared how to juggle many balls of life -career, family, outside activities. And how to respond when we drop one or two or ten!  Cammy's luncheon keynote tickled our funny bone and everyone walked away with tips on how to handle change while maintaining harmony, peace and joy.

While the opening address and keynote speakers were integral to the day, more learning was to be had at the 10 top-notch breakout sessions.  All presenters designed their content to meet the needs of a diverse audience - from newbies to veteran fundraisers.

The Conference Planning Committee met after the Conference for a full debriefing.  Each organization will receive the survey results so decisions can be made regarding collaboration efforts for next year.  The GCPGC appreciated the opportunity to work with the AFP and we look forward to working together on more projects in the future.
