Planned Giving on the Run - Back to Basics
Published August 1, 2009 by Susan G. Kulick
Regardless of the size of your organization, development staffs are expected to be leaner and more efficient these days. The message from your board or directors, however, is not to stop the annual campaign or postpone special project fundraising, but to keep all the usual balls in the air and, by the way, remember to finally launch the planned giving initiative by the end of this calendar year. Is this even humanly possible?
Don't despair.......the answer is YES.
Planned Giving on the Run, a class offered by the Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council (GCPGC), can lead you, step-by-step, through the process of creating a planned giving program. Planned Giving on the Run is a practical class that meets in Cincinnati on the first Wednesday of the month from October through March. The six month class is designed for busy professionals who need a planned giving business plan but do not have the time, staff or budget to start a traditional program. Many local insights and helpful examples are offered throughout the course. Students are also paired with experienced mentors as an additional resource. Planned Giving on the Run is ideal for development officers, executive directors and other staff members charged with identifying planned giving prospects and approaching them about leaving a lasting legacy to a non-profit.
Planned Giving on the Run, now in its 4th year, is reasonably priced at $200. Membership in GCPGC and/or its national affiliate, Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP) is necessary to enroll. Class instructors are Andrea Herzig, President of GCPGC, and Susan G. Kulick, Senior Donor Relations Officer at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. For more information about the class and the topics covered, contact Susan at susan.kulick@cchmc.org.
Budget for this class NOW...It will be money well spent!
